Fazil Mustafa wrote about the Musical Theater

Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Milli Majlis Fazil Mustafa, who watched the play “Leyli and Majnun” at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater on December 10, shared his impressions with his subscribers on his Facebook page.

This evening we watched the play “Leila and Majnun” at the Academic Musical Theater. We especially liked the performance, which we went to at the invitation of the theater director, the respected Aligismat Lalayev. They staged this magnificent work of the brilliant Uzeyir Bey in the second edition and it turned out to be a very meaningful work. The actors masterfully created a synthesis of movement, music and dance. The hall was also full of spectators and it was felt that they were watching with satisfaction. You should watch this show every chance you get. Viewer support is very important for the revival of art and theater. Thanks to the theater community for this wonderful performance.

It should be noted that the performance, which has just expanded the repertoire of the Musical Theatre, was created according to a libretto and staged by director Samir Gulamov based on the musical opera of the brilliant composer “Leyli and Majnun” by Uzeir Hajibeyli and the poem of the same name by the great thinker Muhammad Fizuli.

Although the performance, prepared by the Ministry of Culture on the basis of a state order, retains its deep philosophical meaning and originality, it is the first not only in the history of musical theater, but also in the history of the Azerbaijani theater with its various productions in a new director’s interpretation.
